MAIL THIEVES

It has been reported that outgoing mail left for the letter carrier to take has been stolen. Another individual reported that incoming mail has been taken.

It is difficult to secure incoming mail unless you have a locked mailbox. However, outgoing mail is a different matter. One should never leave outgoing mail that may contain checks or personal or financial information for the letter carrier to pick up. Hand them to the letter carrier or take them to a post box.
As we experience ongoing construction and remodeling projects in our neighborhoods there are all sorts of strangers on our streets. Experience has shown that these “visitors” can be responsible for mail theft and even home burglaries. We do not want to cause any paranoia but do suggest reasonable caution.

Please report any incidents of this type to the Glendale Police Department and to the Chevy Chase Estates Association. Your contact at the police department is Officer Patrick L.
