May is National Historic Preservation Month!
To celebrate, we are launching an online community project:

CITY JEWELS
Discovering Glendale’s hidden treasures

The best way to save Glendale’s heritage is to foster community awareness of our historic resources and identify as many as possible.

You can make a difference by contributing a photo to our new “City Jewels” webpage of hidden gems and under-appreciated buildings.

This project is ongoing; there is no deadline for submissions.

-HOW TO PARTICIPATE-

  1. Submit a digital photo of a favorite building or place within Glendale city limits that you feel is worthy of preservation.
  2. The photo should be no larger than 3 megabytes in size.   We prefer landscape format; however, if the photo only works vertically, then portrait style is acceptable.
  3. Please stay on the public right of way when photographing and do not trespass on private property.
  4. Please DO NOT submit photographs of designated landmarks or houses within the three designated historic districts.  To check, visit the city’s historic preservation page: http://www.ci.glendale.ca.us/planning/HPHomePage.asp.
  5. Email your photo to tghs@glendalehistorical.org.  Please include the following information:
  • Your name
  • Address of the subject in the photograph (be assured that we will not share specific  residential addresses online)
  • Please note that by sending your photo to TGHS you are agreeing to allow TGHS to post the photo on our website.
  • Please state if you wish to receive online credit for the photo or not.
  • If available, submit any information you have on the subject, e.g. year built, history, etc.
  • Submit any comments you wish to make.
